To our Walleye stocking donors,
Seasons Greetings and many wishes for a Happy New Year ,
PCLIA is happy to announce that our 2010 Walleye Fingerling Stocking took place on December 21st. We encountered several delays including bad weather and re-scheduling on part of our contracted fish stocking agency.
We were able to add nearly 400 pounds of walleye fingerlings to our lakes. These walleye fingerlings are predominately in the 6 to 8 inch range. They will grow about 2 inches the first year, and an additional 4-5 inches the following year. Generally, stocking survival rates for walleye are between 50 to 70%.
I want to thank each of you for your generosity, in providing a great fishing resource for our generation, and for those of our children. On a related note, we’ve had recent reports of lake residents catching 14 and 15 inch walleye, which indicate our last stocking (in 2008) was a success. We hope to continue these efforts in 2012, and we would appreciate your continued generosity in the next stocking effort.
